HKU MBA International Field Trip to Spain

𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲: 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭-𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐌𝐁𝐀 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐩 – 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧

30 students from our Part-time MBA programme embarked on a trip to Spain, one of Europe’s prominent startup hubs, to immerse themselves in the world of innovation, entrepreneurship, and the thriving startup ecosystem. Throughout the trip, they had engaging discussions and inspiring encounters. Here are some highlights:

– 𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐃𝐄 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: A thought-provoking exploration of the geopolitical and economic forces that have shaped the nation and its role in the broader European context.
– 𝐊𝐏𝐌𝐆 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐝: Meeting with Mr. Francisco Javier Vázquez Oteo, Partner in M&A and Corporate Law, understanding the legal intricacies of European and Spanish M&A transactions.
– 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐮𝐛: Discussions about the Hub’s mission of promoting disruptive food technologies and revolutionising the global food industry.
– 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Meeting with Mr. Alberto Criado, Principal at Cardumen Capital, who shared valuable insights into their investment strategies and work with early-stage tech ventures.
– 𝐄𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬: Visit to one of the top business schools in the world and learnt about the key to successful product management with Moran Haviv, a seasoned product management expert and Head of Strategic Innovation at Microsoft’s Israel R&D centre.
– 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐚 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Visit to a space that brings together Esade’s learning and research, the business community, public administrations, and social enterprises to enable experimentation, creation, and impact.
– 𝐀𝐈 𝐔𝐧𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐝: Oren Elisha, Israel’s AI expert, guided us through the developments and use cases of artificial intelligence across industries.
– 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲: An experiential learning opportunity for students to collaborate, apply new learnings and methodologies in the craft of comprehensive go-to-market strategies for local business, and pitch solutions and ideas to a panel of judges.
– 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: A cultural immersion from the exciting Urban Escape Room Experience to visiting the Prado Museum, taking a Spanish cooking workshop, watching a flamenco show, and going on an architecture tour through the enchanting streets of Barcelona.
