I am from Jiangsu province, which is located half way up the eastern coast of mainland China. After finishing high school in my home town, I moved to Montreal, Canada to study at McGill University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a concentration in Finance.

Before starting the MBA programme, I gained almost six years of working experience, most of it related to project investment in a variety of industries, including retail, renewable energy and traditional energy trading, and upstream investment. My work required extensive international travel, including numerous business trips to Italy, Germany, France, Serbia and Russia. In addition, I was often required to move to the locales in which projects were based. Accordingly, I lived in four cities in six years.

My international study and career experience has taught me many valuable things that have helped me a lot  in my career. Most fortunate of all, however, is that it allowed me to discover my career interest, which is mostly related to project and/or company M&As. At the same time, I also realised that I am not yet good enough at what I am interested in, and so I decided to take a career break and pursue an MBA to gain a more solid foundation for the future.

After making this decision, the HKU MBA programme quickly became my first choice for several reasons. Hong Kong is an international business centre and is particularly important to Asia. In addition, the expertise and diversity of the teaching team and the strong background of and social network provided by my current classmates and HKU alumni leave me in no doubt that it is a great honour to be a member of the full-time HKU MBA community. I hope that HKU will also one day be proud of me!
