After I graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. degree in Economics, I joined M-Brain Group’s Shanghai office as a market strategy and advisory analyst. I cooperated with project team members to offer clients market entry analysis and advisory services to assist them with professional reviews of their target markets. Also, I worked with teams to provide business development strategy services for clients who were looking for market intelligence and advice on how to expand their markets and improve market penetration.

As a marketing analyst who has aspirations to be a future leader in this field, I decided to pursue an MBA degree in order to further enhance my hard and soft skills after two years of work experience. One of the most important reasons that I chose HKU MBA is its curriculum, especially the curriculum’s design which is based on a wide range of disciplinary areas and presents a great opportunity to acquire the necessary knowledge and tools to handle the fierce competition in today’s complex business environment. Another intriguing feature of the programme is the case-based teaching approach. As a young professional with relatively little work experience, the case-study modules provide opportunities for me to apply business concepts to real-world challenges in fields where I have not been involved previously, and therefore allow me to gain valuable insights into markets in many contexts.

To me, HKU MBA represents much more than a master degree programme. It is an opportunity to work closely with classmates of different nationalities and from diverse professional backgrounds. For example, when I was working with my classmates in a collaborative and interactive atmosphere for our “Business Communication” class project, I was happy to gain insights from others and to share knowledge that I gained from my period of study abroad and my work experience.

In general, the combination of fundamental disciplines along with good marketing related courses and case studies will allow me to acquire essential tools to serve my post-MBA career, and the networking opportunities with alumni, mentors and business elites both in Hong Kong and abroad will allow me to establish life-long friendships. Being a member of the programme and a part of HKU’s community is one of the most meaningful and memorable experiences of my life.
