Hi! My name is Sandra and I am from Greater China. After getting my BA from Shanghai and an MA from London, I started to work for WPP School of Marketing & Communications in Shanghai. As a lecturer, I was given the responsibility for developing and teaching English courses which focused on advertising-related theories and cases as well as collaborating with industry experts to create case-based marketing and advertising workshops. I also worked with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) on partnership development and fundraising.
It was while working at the school that I discovered that I have a real passion for marketing and communication. In order to build a career in strategic marketing management I wanted to learn, systematically, all the aspects to business management. After doing my research I chose the HKU MBA programme because of the well-designed curriculum, great faculty, insights to doing business in China and the well-connected alumni network. The University of Hong Kong is a world-class university located in a region which enjoys a strong economy and international competitiveness.
I have so far enjoyed my MBA journey very much. Working with classmates from different countries, industries, functions and backgrounds not only gives me an opportunity to learn from their experiences, but also helps me foster a growth mindset and to take a holistic approach towards business. Moreover, I find the economics, accounting and finance classes especially helpful and informative to me from a managerial perspective as I am not from that background.
IÂ look forward to the following months of my MBA journey.
