Mr. Pantano is a Professor at The University of Hong Kong. He is an applied microeconomist with wide teaching and research interests. Before joining HKU Business School, Pantano has taught at UCLA, Stony Brook University, The University of Arizona, Washington University in St. Louis and The University of Chicago. Mr. Pantano has published his research in major journals in Economics, such as the American Economic Review.

At a methodological level, Pantano’s main areas of research focus on a) how to integrate structural estimation with randomized controlled trials and other credible research designs, b) how to overcome identification problems when using instrumental variables, and c) how to leverage data on subjective expectations in empirical microeconomic research.

In addition to his extensive academic career in teaching and research, Prof. Pantano has had some administrative and executive experience, serving as Associate Director for Research in the Center for the Economics of Human Development at the University of Chicago.
