Biography
Dr. Jiafu An is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Real Estate and Construction at the University of Hong Kong. He is also a core member of the University’s Institute for Climate and Carbon Neutrality (ICCN). His academic path began with a finance degree from Newcastle University, followed by a Master’s degree in Financial Management, where he graduated with distinction. He then achieved a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Edinburgh, UK. Before his tenure began at the University of Hong Kong in 2024, Dr. An taught at the University of Aberdeen and the University of Portsmouth in the UK, as well as Lingnan University in Hong Kong. He is also a certified CFA charter holder.
Dr. An’s research explores various areas such as real estate finance, financial technology, green finance, cryptocurrency, and the historical aspects of finance. His dedication to research has been recognized with awards from the Financial Management Association and the European Financial Management Association. His findings have been featured in well-regarded journals across different fields, including general interest journals such as Nature, finance journals such as Journal of Financial Economics, Management Science, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Financial Stability, economics journals such as Journal of Development Economics, Energy Economics, and Energy Policy. Jiafu has also been serving as either Academic Editor or Associate Editor for international leading journals such as International Review of Economics and Finance and PLOS One.
