Alumni Initiatives – Sport, Recreation and Wellness Alumni Club
A special opening ceremony to formally launch the alumni-initiated
The event kicked off with an address by Sachin Tipnis, Senior Executive Director of TPG Programme, HKU Business School, followed by Stanley Chan, the leader of the club Committee who presented the objective, goal, and structure of the club. The event culminated with an address by Amy Chan, Badminton World Champion, who shared her sportsmanship during the 1992 Summer Olympics badminton competition and her participation in three Commonwealth Games. She also discussed her career as the first female headmistress of the Hong Kong Jockey Club apprentice school, training future racing stars.
Chan imparted her health tips to an eager audience: No alcohol, no smoking, no sugar, and aim to stretch and walk over 10,000 steps every day. Owing to her contribution to sports development and her devotion to community service, Chan is a role model for many in Hong Kong and as such, was the perfect guest to initiate our new club.
The event closed with a presentation detailing the upcoming events and initiatives designed by the club which includes Hiking, Badminton Practice, Yoga class, and 8-week fitness programme.
