- Please give a brief background to your pre-MBA experience
I am an IT engineer with over 9 years of work experience in India and Singapore. I have had amazing opportunities to work in AI related start-ups and have been able to bring in business from enterprises across the Asia-Pacific region. The start-up world has taught me that if you are dedicated and constantly looking for opportunities to grow then there are no boundaries to your business learnings.
- Why did you choose an MBA at HKU?
Hong Kong is the hub of innovation for industries such as finance, IT, retail and telecommunications. The University of Hong Kong was definitely my first choice for an MBA as it is the oldest, and most prestigious, university in Hong Kong. The MBA programme at HKU allows me to immerse myself in this environment of innovation while supplying me with learning resources.
- What are your expectations of getting an MBA?
I joined the MBA programme to help further my studies and to ensure that I had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of people who all have a growth mindset. I wanted to hear their stories. Being able to collaborate with a diverse cohort gives me the opportunity to learn how different cultures have unique perspectives when facing the same problem.
An MBA would propel my career into a higher orbit while offering me more opportunities to work in Hong Kong.
- What has been your experience so far?
The past few months at the HKU have been nothing less than exhilarating. With daily classes, company visits, career counselling and meetings with industry experts, the MBA has been full of learnings and experiences. HKU students are extremely active in various club activities such as marketing, finance and consultancy which also provides a platform for peer-to-peer learning.
Alongside our studies we have gone for various Chinese immersion events such as tea tasting, a Tai-chi workshop and a visit to the Tian Tan Buddha (Big-Buddha). I really appreciate the effort from the Career Development Team as they devote much time to understanding our career aspirations while giving us regular feedback on our development as well as introducing us to new opportunities. Thanks to the recommendations of the Career Development Team I have been able to network and to connect with industry experts.
