HKU MBA Leadership Talk – DHL
It was a great honour for HKU MBA to host Mr. Mark Slade, Managing Director for DHL Global Forwarding Hong Kong and Macau, the freight and forwarding division of DHL, to give us a guest lecture on – “Head, Heart, and Guts” on December 8. The MBA Office is very glad to have received an overwhelming response to the talk with many comments on it, and to have had full-time and part-time students, and alumni participating in this event.
Mark explained in detail about the DHL leadership strategy and gave an overview of the logistics industry, especially in the Mainland China and Hong Kong region.
The audience came to have a deeper understanding of DHL, of Mark’s points of views on the logistics industry, how DHL manages its operations on a global scale, and the efforts that the employees take to ensure that customers get the best service.
Testimonial from current full-time student- Abhijit Sharma –
“The event was well organised and saw a huge turnout from the alumni, the Part time MBA batch, and the Full time MBA batch.
I have always been interested in the logistics industry. Mark not only gave us first-hand knowledge of DHL but also its competitors. He explained the important points about how DHL operates and how the company is trying to remain competitive in today’s circumstances. His experience in the industry truly impressed me.
One key thing I learnt from Mark was that one must always be looking forward to develop great working relationships with staff and employees because a motivated workforce makes achieving the organisational goals easier, this factor reinforces the importance of human capital in any organisation.”
