I was born in Kathmandu, Nepal as the eldest of two children in the family of a minister (my father) and doctor (my mother). I migrated to the UK in 1994 with my mother and completed an undergraduate degree at the University of Leeds in 2002 and a Master’s degree at the London School of Economics in 2004.
The first role post-Master’s was as a performance analyst for Cable & Wireless, where I made presentations of my key performance indicator analyses to the company’s CEO and CFO. My next position was performance manager at BP, where I reduced a budget expenditure deficit of £2.5m to hit the company’s budget target. I then moved to a senior commercial analyst position at Pernod Ricard, where I delivered profits higher than the target for two consecutive years, the only business segment to achieve such a feat. My most recent position was management consultant for Trindent Consulting, a boutique firm targeting small- and medium-sized companies looking to improve profitability.
