I was born and grew up in Italy. After graduating with a degree in educational sciences from the University of Bari, I started to learn the human resources craft on the corporate human resources team of Barilla, one of the top Italian food groups and the world leader in the pasta business. I worked there for about three years and then decided it was time for a new challenge. I left the world of fast-moving consumer goods and fell under the spell of the luxury industry, joining Luxottica, a world leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of eyewear. It was there that I grew up professionally, working on the corporate HR team in Milan before moving to operations as the learning and development manager for the company’s Italian factories. I was finally promoted to HR manager for staff functions at Operations Italy. This five years of experience constituted a great training ground for developing a problem-solving mind-set, learning how to work in a complex organisation and supporting change management processes.
