Pre-MBA Career Background: Manager of Group Leadership and Talent Management at AIA Group (insurance industry)
About Me:
Aspiring leader, passionate about growth, connecting people, and turning ideas into meaningful impact
My Biggest Career Accomplishment:
I am part of the team whose mission is to identify and develop current and future leaders in AIA. I was involved in managing the talent review and succession planning for our critical positions across our markets, and curating significant development interventions to accelerate our leaders’ growth. These initiatives strengthened our leadership pipeline and positioned the organisation for long-term success. One of the most satisfying moments is when I saw the talent the company invested in took on expanded roles and achieved personal/ professional growth.
Aspirations for Pursuing an MBA:
Working closely with exceptional leaders has inspired me to become one myself. To lead effectively, I believe in being bold, resourceful, and empathetic—qualities that require both experience and structured learning. An MBA offers me the all-rounded business knowledge, global perspective, and leadership development I need, along with a powerful network to accelerate my growth.
Why HKU MBA:
I looked for a programme with a strong global brand, a diverse and dynamic cohort, and a curriculum that balances structured learning with experiential opportunities. Flexibility in the learning pathway was also key for me.
HKU MBA stood out for its unique Asia-global focus and strong reputation. The programme offers flexibility for working professionals to find the pathway that suits them. Plus, the partnerships with top global schools provides international exposure and overseas learning opportunity.
My Expectations After Completing the MBA:
I expect to walk away with lifelong friendships and a strong professional network that spans industries and cultures. Beyond that, I see this as a transformative journey that brings me closer to the leader I aspire to be, equipped with fresh perspectives and practical skills to make an impact.
