Hometown: Mainland China
Education Background: University of Toronto | Honours Bachelor of Science – Statistical Machine Learning and Data Mining
Pre-MBA Career Background: KPMG, Healthcare, Strategy and Operation Consultant
About Me: Well-disciplined self-learner with adaptability and resilience, actively seeking out opportunities for learning and growth
My Biggest Career Accomplishment
I successfully engineered a comprehensive payment reform strategy for the Beijing Municipal Health Insurance Bureau, transitioning the payment model from fee-for-service to capitation based on overseas policy research and data modelling. This transition achieved a significant reduction in medical resource waste and enhanced service delivery effectiveness.
Aspirations for Pursuing an MBA
I started my career in strategy consulting with KPMG, which provided me with the opportunity to think more critically and view business from a broader perspective. Working as a strategy consultant required me to build knowledge across different aspects of business, such as finance and marketing. This multifaceted understanding is crucial, challenging me to approach problems holistically and provide well-rounded solutions.
However, having been trained in technical disciplines of AI, machine learning, and data mining with less exposure to business subjects such as marketing and finance during my studies at the University of Toronto, I realise the need to learn about business, its practices in the real world, and in-demand trends through further studies at a university with esteemed professors and industry experts.
I hope to seize this opportunity to pursue an MBA to broaden and strengthen my knowledge across various areas, such as private equity, venture capital, and investment banking, while exploring different industries. My goal is not only to enhance my skills as a competitive business professional but also to potentially lay the foundations for an entrepreneurial journey in the long run.

The reputation of HKU is another significant reason for my choice. HKU consistently ranks as one of the top institutions in Asia. This reputation not only reflects the quality of the educational experience but also provides access to high-calibre faculty and resources.
Moreover, I am particularly attracted to HKU’s extensive alumni network. The alumni community can provide invaluable connections and mentorship opportunities, which are crucial for career advancement in a competitive landscape.
