I would describe myself as a hard-working and dedicated service-oriented person. I am extremely optimistic, and I love to travel – something which I was able to do a lot of while studying.
I grew up in Salt, Jordan, and received my DDS degree in 2004 from the University of Jordan and an MS degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2010. In 2011, I became a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. And I finished my PhD in 2014 from King’s college/University of London.
I recently joined the HKU Faculty of Dentistry as a Senior Clinical Practitioner, and before that, I was an Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and head of the Department of Oral surgery, Oral medicine, Oral Pathology, and Periodontology at the School of Dentistry, The University of Jordan.
As a researcher, my promotion to an Associate Professor was a definite career highlight. As an educator, every graduation and successful defence of a graduate student thesis always bring me fulfilment and joy.
From my previous experience in leadership positions, I realised how fun, challenging, and satisfying working with people could be. Building effective teams and cultivating a healthy motivating culture is both an art and a science. I decided to pursue an MBA as the knowledge and shared experiences in such a programme would provide insight and a holistic approach to managing teams, strategising decisions, and driving innovations. I was so lucky to be in close proximity to one of the best business schools in Asia and in the world here at HKU.
I look forward to enjoying an immersive journey full of learning, building friendships and meeting mentors for life.
