Entry Requirements
Applicants should fulfil the following admission requirements:
Bachelor's degree
1. A recognised bachelor’s degree.
>2 years experience
2. At least 2 years of postgraduate full-time work experience (as of August 2025).
GMAT / GRE
Satisfactory GMAT/GRE score
GMAT/GRE exam result is required for Full-time MBA admission.
- Test scores that are more than five years old will not be accepted.
- We consider only your highest (and valid) score. The number of attempts is not a concern, we will not combine sub-scores from multiple exams into a single composite score.
- The HKU MBA code number for the GMAT is FS2-WL-67.
- The HKU MBA code number for GRE is 4136.

TOEFL / IELTS
Satisfactory TOEFL/IELTS score
- Minimum TOEFL score of 80 (internet-based) or IELTS (academic module) overall band score of 6.5, with no subtest score lower than 5.5.
- An applicant’s qualification from a university outside Hong Kong in which the language of teaching and/or examination is not conducted in English must take the TOEFL/IELTS exam.
- Test scores that are more than two years old will not be accepted.
- We consider only your highest (and valid) score. The number of attempts is not a concern, we will not combine sub-scores from multiple exams into a single composite score.
- The HKU MBA TOEFL code number is 9671

Step 1

Step 2
Understand the eligibility
After doing your own research and engaging with our MBA team, we believe you will have a basic understanding of our programme. As a kind reminder, you are advised to read the entry requirements one last time before starting the application process.
Step 3
Submit the online application
Once you have ensured you’re eligible for admission, please submit the online application by following these steps:
- Create an account (link)
- Log-in again after registering (link)
- The application fee is HK$300 (non-refundable) to be paid online by Visa or MasterCard credit card
- You will receive the reference number MBAXXXXXXXXXX (10 digits) upon a successful application

Step 4
Prepare the supporting documents
The following documents need to be submitted after the online application:
- The official transcript(s) containing a complete record of the years and examination results of the courses you have taken at your home university (transcripts not in English should be accompanied by a formally certified translation in English provided by university).
- The certified true copy of a degree certificate(s)Â (certificates not in English should be accompanied by a formally certified translation in English provided by university).
- It is a must to take the GMAT/GRE exam for Full-time MBA admission.
- Test scores that are more than five years old will not be accepted.

- A copy of your passport (page with photo)/HKID.
- Professional resume.
Step 5
Admissions Interview
Once the Admission Committee has received online applications and supporting documents via the upload link, we will shortlist candidates for interviews. Local candidates are interviewed in person and international candidates either by phone or video conference. Interview invitations are sent to the email address provided in the application. A second-round interview or further documentation may be required in some cases.
Note:Â The HKU MBA Office places greater importance on the interview process than on essays as we believe the best way to evaluate an applicant is through personal interaction, which helps us to better understand the motivation and personality of prospective students.
Step 6
Admissions Decision
Admissions decision is generally available 2 to 4 weeks after the interviews, which is communicated via email. Admissions offer will be granted to selected candidates.
Step 7
Next steps upon offer acceptance
Upon offer acceptance, the student services team will work closely with the incoming students regarding the student visa & accommodation application details (for non-local) and pre-MBA activities; as well as a timeline of programme-related information.
Tuition and Financial Aids
Tuition Fees
- Composition fee of the programme — HK$588,000 (2025 intake), payable in 3 instalments over one year. This is subject to change with final approval by The University of Hong Kong.
- Deposit – HK$75,000 upon receiving notice of admission. Successful candidates are required to pay it to confirm offer acceptance.
