The International Field Project (IFP), our flagship experiential learning initiative, offers Part-time MBA students an incredible opportunity to immerse themselves in a new culture while gaining a deep understanding of the local business landscape. This year, we organised four thrilling IFPs: Nordic (Finland and Estonia), London, Boston, and Vietnam.

Let’s dive into our first adventure: Nordic! ✈

In early April, 25 Part-time MBA students embarked on an exciting week-long journey to Finland and Estonia. The group was warmly welcomed by Prof. Marcus SchΓΌtz’s introduction lecture, followed by a cultural walk in Helsinki. They visited iconic sites like the Helsinki Cathedral, Uspenski Cathedral, and the Old Market Hall.
Their journey continued in Espoo, Finland’s second-largest and fastest-growing city, renowned as a hub for innovation and research. Led by Prof. SchΓΌtz, students visited key organisations including Nokia, Vaisala, Espoo City Council, Finnish Hong Kong Chamber and Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Special thanks to Mr. Alec Arho Haven for being our guest speaker on the topic of green tech and sustainable race circuit. The group then explored Porvoo, a charming old town filled with rich history. Before leaving for Estonia, they visited the Helsinki Central Library Oodi, Bank of Finland and NASDAQ Helsinki.

On Day 5 of the trip, the group boarded a ferry and sailed off to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. They wandered through the UNESCO Old Town of Tallinn, delving into its rich history and experiencing the city’s evolution from medieval times to the modern era. The next day, they travelled to Tartu. Nestled in southern Estonia, Tartu is known as Estonia’s cultural “heart and soul.” Here, they explored β€˜Tartu 2024,’ an ongoing project promoting Tartu as the European Capital of Culture, showcasing the region’s uniqueness to local and international audiences. After lunch, they visited the Eesti Rahva Museum (Estonian National Museum).

On their final day in Estonia, the group visited the Estonian Digital Briefing Center, Tallinn Strategic Management Office and Wise, a fintech company focused on global money transfers. In the evening, they explored the Port of Tallinn and wrapped up their unforgettable trip with a farewell dinner at Peppersack.

Sincere gratitude to Prof. SchΓΌtz for making this trip a resounding success! Our students had an enriching experience while expanding their global perspective. Stay tuned for more exciting trips in May and June!
