We had the privilege of hosting Anushka Purohit, the CEO and Co-founder of Breer and Ssome Cosmetics, for an engaging Fireside Chat on ‘The Business of Upcycling: Creating Value from Waste’.

Anushka shared how a seemingly mundane occurrence – surplus bread heading straight to the landfill – sparked the idea for Breer. She felt a strong desire to take action and create something positive. Indeed, sometimes, the most impactful ideas emerge from our everyday routines.

Driven by the mission to introduce a circular economy and promote responsible consumption, Anushka and her co-founders leveraged creativity and strategic business analysis to tap into promising market opportunities. They have built a business venture that balances profitability with sustainability, benefiting both their bottom line and, most importantly, the planet.

Anushka’s commitment to sustainability is matched by her deep roots in the local community. One of their products is infused with the iconic local fare, “Pineapple Bun (Bolo Bao)”.

Her journey is a testament to how everyday observations can spark groundbreaking ideas. By keeping their product socially responsible, Breer has found a way to operate that benefits all stakeholders.
