Elizabeth Li has been a strategy consultant since 1986, specializing in organization development and change management, particularly within a global or cross-border context. She was previously a business executive in the textile industry for 10 years, where she acquired a comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing, import-export and retail operations in New York City and Hong Kong. She has a special interest in integrating Western management methods into an Asian environment.

From 1992 to 1996, she lectured at the University of Hong Kong Business School, on International Business Environments, Managerial Skills, Research Methodologies and Management of Strategic Change for MBA students. She has also lectured at the Beijing National School of Administration on Ogranization Change Management Theory and Methodology and Training the Trainer courses.

Since 1985, Elizabeth has been invited to PRC government department and enterprises to train Mainland professionals Elizabeth Li Management Consultants Limited (“ELMC”) has delivered 30 professional training programs for over 500 Mainland participants. In addition, ELMC, in cooperation with PRC government departments and enterprises, has organized numerous large-scale international conferences and business exchange activities in Beijing, Hong Kong and Taipei, including “Beijing New Hi-Tech Production International Week”.

In 1996, Elizabeth established the Education and Learning Institution Limited (“ELI”), a non-profit organization with the aim of providing education opportunities for Hong Kong tertiary-level students and enhance academic exchange with Mainland China.

ELI organized “Summer Internship Programmes of Tertiary Students in Hong Kong” between 2000 and 2002, sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. It enabled 1,000 undergraduates to experience new cultures in their host countries and gain valuable work experience with local corporates in 10 Chinese Mainland cites, USA, Europe and more.

To increase the opportunities for further education amongst Hong Kong students, ELI established The Hong Kong Learning Community College in 2002*. The philosophy of the College is based on the US education system and Western management practices integrated into an Asian learning environment. The College offers Pre-Associate and Associate Degree programmes with a personal development and career focus to students who fall outside mainstream tertiary educational routes.

In 2013, Elizabeth completed her Doctoral Degree at Peking University under the supervision of Professor Chen Lai. Her thesis entitled “Zhang Zai on Becoming a Sage: an interpretation based on Virtue Ethics, Philosophical Psychology and Moral Cognitive Development” is a study of the neo-Confucian Zhang Zai from contemporary perspectives. She spent two sessions at the Needham Research Institute to further her comparative work of the ancient China and the contemporary West, focusing on the philosophy of science of Zhang Zai. Her work there included partial manuscripts on the scientific sections of English translation in Zhang Zai’s Zhengmeng, and the other is a comprehensive interpretation of Zhang Zai’s philosophy.
