Accommodation
MBA students may apply for
a) Private rental
MBA courses are usually conducted in Cyberport and Admiralty (not the Pokfulam HKU main campus), so should you opt for a private rental, the Western district is the most convenient area to center your accommodation search. The majority of the students from the previous batch opted for private rentals nearby.
If you opt for privately rented accommodation, you are strongly advised to arrive as early as possible so that you will have ample time for property inspection and rental negotiation. Depending on location, monthly rental starts at HK$6,000 up for a small single room and HK$10,000 or more for a small flat. More information on private rental can be found HERE.
*You will be provided with student account activation details in June/July. Once your student account is activated, you can use the "Privately-rented Off-Campus Housing - Online viewing" function at the CEDARS website.
b) On-campus postgraduate housing (St. John's College)
Unfortunately, HKU has a shortage of on-campus housing. Master students (including MBA students) could only apply for limited housing provided at St. John's College, located next to the Main Campus which enables easy access to all campus facilities like the library, gym and canteen. Students can also conveniently reach Cyberport via the HKU shuttle bus. Please note, however, only 5 spots are available for MBA students each academic year.
Applications from MBA students are open from March to May every year, and the results are announced in June/July. Late application (after May) will only be put into consideration in case of vacancies after Main Round application and, however, the chance is very low.
The monthly lodging fees at SJC is to be confirmed. For reference, monthly lodging fee in 2024-25 was around HK$11,700. Residents are required to sign a 3-month or above agreement.
c) Serviced Apartment and Short term hotel lease
Hotel / serviced apartments can be found
nearby offering long term stay plan. You may do an online search according to your needs and
budget. We highly recommend you to stay in HK Island, Western or
Sheung Wan district.
d) Temporary accommodation
You can refer to HERE for the temporary housing options on campus, and HERE for hotels and hostels. Many students also look at Airbnb for short term lease.
More details on accommodation will be sent to students in March 2025 followed by webinar sessions to answer student queries about Hong Kong accommodation.
