Aspiration for Pursuing an MBA:

Throughout my career in telecommunications, I realised that my strengths were rooted in engineering and operations. While these technical skills enabled me to execute projects effectively, I often encountered situations where broader business perspectives—such as strategy, finance, and leadership—were critical to achieving long-term impact.

I want to complete my skill set by building strong managerial and business acumen, including learning how to analyse markets, manage organisations, and lead people in complex environments. Pursuing an MBA offers the opportunity to complement my technical expertise with strategic and leadership capabilities.

Why HKU MBA:

I was seeking a programme that offeres global exposure while maintaining a strong focus on Asia. Equally important was the opportunity to learn alongside classmates from different industries, cultures, and backgrounds, as I believe a diverse global network is one of the most valuable assets of an MBA.

I also wanted a curriculum that balances strategy with innovation, equipping me with the skills to lead in a fast-changing business environment.

I considered MBA programmes in both Hong Kong and Singapore, but ultimately chose HKU MBA for its strong Asia focus, international reputation, and flexible structure that connects students with major global business hubs. The programme’s partnership tracks with world-class institutions such as Columbia Business School, London Business School, and Peking University provide opportunities to gain diverse perspectives and experiences.

In addition, Hong Kong’s unique position as a gateway between East and West makes it an ideal place to gain both regional insights and global perspectives.

My Expectations after Completing the MBA:

After completing the MBA, I plan to return to Telkom Indonesia, where I aim to take on greater strategic responsibilities and grow into a General Manager role in the telecommunications or technology sector. I hope to contribute to Indonesia’s sustainable economic growth by leveraging the global perspectives and business skills gained through the programme.

Advice for Prospective Candidates:

Take time to reflect on your personal story and career journey. Be clear about how these experiences have shaped your goals. Show how the MBA is not just an academic degree, but a strategic plan to help you achieve a higher purpose in your career. Above all, stay authentic—admissions committees value genuine motivation and a clear vision of where you want to go.
