China Immersion Programme: Tai Chi Workshop

In the latest activity of the China Immersion Programme, our full-time students had the opportunity to learn and perform the ancient Chinese martial art of ‘Tai Chi’ at the hands of a renowned Tai Chi master, Kelvin Shu Hing KO.

This energetic workshop began with the Tai Chi master describing the long history of this ancient practice in China over the last 2000 years, before he explained how we understand its benefits in reducing stress and anxiety. The master then demonstrated a series of movements and postures for the class, revealing how each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that the entire body is in constant motion, and coupling this with deep breaths leads to maximum relaxation. The session was a great opportunity for the students to learn about the significance of Tai Chi in Chinese culture and how Tai Chi can be a positive part of improving overall health.
