What was your background prior to joining the HKU MBA programme?

I was born and raised in Israel. I was always attracted to technology and computer science ever since I was a kid, so I knew from a young age what my purpose in life would be. In the last twenty years I have been deeply involved in many aspects of leading technologies that are being used today by organisations and the general public. I am currently stationed in Hong Kong, overseeing my company’s entire Asia-Pacific cybersecurity and application delivery business. My goal is to allow organisations to deliver a strong customer experience in total security which will allow them to protect sensitive data better, and to build trust and loyalty with their consumers. This will allow them to grow their businesses by creating a secure climate for their customers.

Why did you choose HKU MBA?

I chose to do the MBA programme with HKU because it is ranked as one of the leading universities in Asia and attracts the most superior and diligent talents from all over the region. The ability to interact with a diverse group of professionals that come from a variety of industries is key because it allows me to gain different insights, methods and a point of view that can help me enhance my tool kit to become a better leader, better husband, father and friend. In addition, as part of my purpose in life to help others, I am thrilled to share my experiences, challenges and views to contribute to the discussions and to positively impact my fellow students.

What are your expectations of studying for an MBA?

I saw the MBA as a great way to enhance my leadership qualities. By providing technical services, solutions and delivery with clients and colleagues globally I came to recognise the necessity of an academic approach to doing business. The opportunity to gain these qualities and tools in Asia was appealing since it’s where I would like to focus my professional and personal life in the coming years.

How is your experience so far?

The overall learning experience so far has been impacted by the global pandemic. Online learning and teaching became part of our journey but I appreciate the hybrid option the university is offering its students. I enjoy my time and have already made friends for life. I have learned from exceptional professors and teachers and overall I feel that I have gained a lot of knowledge. The overall experience is exceptionally good; the learning experience and the professors are awesome, the teaching methods are very advanced, the business cases are up to date and the classes, even online, are very interactive.
